What changes in the trip
JPG. The format photographs belong in. It throws away detail the eye is bad at noticing in exchange for files a fraction of the size, and it cannot store transparency. Transparent areas come out white.
WebP. Smaller than both PNG and JPG at the same visual quality, and it keeps transparency. Every current browser displays it, though some older desktop software still will not open one.
